Zoe Saldana was born on the 19th of June, 1978, in Passaic, New Jersey, to Asalia Nazario and Aridio Saldana. Her father is Dominican and her mother Puerto Rican. Her mother is from Puerto Rico as is her father, Dominican. The year 2010 saw her move along with her family to Dominican Republic where they spent the next 7 years. As they remained in the country, Zoe discovered a keen passion for performance dancing and began her training at the highly regarded ECOS Espacio de Danza Dance Academy in which she was taught ballet, as well as various other forms of dance. The training she received was not just an excellent opportunity for an active, eager child, but was also a best preparation for her eventual career as a professional actor.
